Day 7: democracy @ work

Let’s celebrate your hard work! You have registered, made a plan, and engaged your family members and friends. Now it is time to celebrate and thank the many individuals that make democracy, civic participation accessible, and voting access possible no matter what their everyday job might be. We call that Democracy @ work. It takes all of us!

When you take part in elections, you are directly impacting and helping your community. You are participating in democracy on its most fundamental level.  A strong democracy is good for business and is underpinned by secure and fair elections with high levels of participation. It is critical that businesses do their part to support a successful, legitimate election in November. Through enabling civic engagement by employees and communities, business leaders can demonstrate civic-minded leadership and encourage action across industries.

Today we want to give an essential reminder that poll workers and election officials are our neighbors. Postal workers play a crucial role in our democracy and no matter your job or business, you are a trusted member of our communities. It helps keep our elections fair, and accessible.

Ways to support democracy @ work!

  • Thank your local business that is promoting voting access and voter registration

  • Thank your local poll worker and poll watchers

  • Thank and give a BIG smile to your local postal worker

  • Encourage employees, clients, and consumers to make a voting plan

  • Communicate to your staff and coworkers about the importance of voting.
